A distribution in the Lho region of the northern Gorkha district in Nepal. This is one of the most highly elevated and rural areas on the planet.
CRS/Caritas Nepal is the first agency to distribute transitional shelter materials in northern Gorkha District, overcoming significant logistics challenges to reach some of the most isolated populations on the planet. CRS/Caritas Nepal teams sent logistics staff and trekking teams to the hard-to-reach areas of northern Gorkha District to prepare distribution of shelter materials. Using helicopters provided by the World Food Program, CRS/Caritas teams have distributed corrugated iron sheeting and tool kits to 55 families in Lho as of June 10, 2015. In total before the monsoon season hits in July, 284 households will be assisted with transitional shelter kits in northern Gorkha, and 6,250 families across the Gorkha District with transitional shelter kits or cash, depending on the availability of supplies in the local market.
