A 7.8 earthquake hit the near the town of Portoviejo, Ecuador, on April 16, 2016. More than 650 people were killed and thousands were injured. Most of the damage occurred in three towns in coastal Ecuador: Manta, Portoviejo and Pedernales.
CRS and it's partner Caritas have responded to the earthquake by building temporary shelters and providing hygiene kits to survivors.
